Bibliography of Aeronautics, Smithsonian Institute, 1910

In the Smithsonian's 1910 Bibliography, Whitehead is mentioned by name eleven times (see excerpts on the 6 pages shown below). Additionally, many other articles refer to his aircraft.

"The Aeronautic Society of New York and the Birth of American Aviation, 1908-1918", Tom D. Crouch, Senior Curator, Aeronautics, National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution, New York Magazin

Reports about Whitehead appeared occasionally and advertisements for Whitehead Motors appeared regularly in "Aeronautics".

In a 2012 article in NY Magazine, Tom Crouch refers to "Aeronautics" as "the leading aeronautical journal of the era" (and not as an "obscure mechanics magazine"), albeit in a later time-frame:

"Ernest LaRue Jones, Secretary of the Aero Club of America and the editor of Aeronautics, the leading U.S. aeronautical journal of the era, was among the well-known experimenters who hoped to try their luck at Morris Park."
