Motors for Curtiss

The search for Whitehead motors involves examination of both written and visual sources. Once a photo is confirmed as showing a Whitehead motor, comparisons to other photos are made. However, in many cases, the captions on photos showing motors identical to those of Whitehead, label them as Curtiss motors. (In one case, Whitehead-researcher, Maj. W.O'Dwyer, who was given a photo by the man who helped build and install the Whitehead motor in a Curtiss-type aircraft, was attacked by critics for claiming it was a Whitehead motor.)

As a tier-one supplier of aircraft motors, it wouldn't be surprizing if Whitehead had produced motors for Curtiss.

The two sources below state Whitehead built motors for Curtiss. However, both are latter-day commentators, i.e. neither are contemporary sources.
