Custead kept pushing the motor for application in automobiles and even rented a booth at the New York Auto show. However, even now, more than one hundred years later, lightweight vehicle design still han't caught on in North America.

Close examination of photos taken at the very first exhibition of the Aero Club of America, Jan. 13-20, 1906 in New York reveals that a model of Custead's, Whitehead-powered, hybrid airship was on display there.
