The research files of Col. Walter Prüfert make reference to an 1896 letter adressed to Whitehead at Blue Hill by the toy and kite maker, Ives Manufacturing Co. in Bridgeport, Connecticut. That company later went bankrupt competing with Horsman. It's not known if the operations were continued under another proprietor. Neither the source nor the letter have been located since Col. Prüfert's death. His files are in the attic at the Gustave Whitehead Museum in Germany and are being sifted through methodically.
